Logic Studio is amazing

When I first started putting together my studio one of my first choices was which audio software to go with. My big options were ProTools, Nuendo, and Logic Studio. I picked Logic…why?? Well to be honest, at that time pretty much only because I thought Apple was cool (Apple makes Logic), and because everyone else has ProTools, and also because I just don’t like Cubase (Nuendo). But Logic has defintely earned its keep as part of my studio arsenal.

To start, its only 500 bucks compared to over 1000 for Nendo or a good Protools system. Second, it comes with Soundtrack Pro, Apples post production audio editor software, as well as all of Apples plug ins/virtual instruments. Oh yeah, it also has a 50 Gb, yep, 50 Gb sample, or sound, library, flled with not only music but also tons of sound fx.

So I’m working on a voice demo for a client today. A voice demo is something a voice actor uses to showcase their “voice” for casting in TV shows. They had all their vocal “clips” recorded, and they got me to add all the ambiences, sound FX, and music. They also wanted it mixed. For one of their clips they told me ” I want this clip to sound like a TV show taking place in a locker room shower. Great. I started scambling in my head. How do you create the sound of a locker room shower? I thought maybe combine a few different showers, try and find some metallic sounding doors and throw some reverb on and maybe I could pull it off. So I search my sample library for some type of shower sound, and what comes up? You guessed it….”Locker Room Shower Ambience”! It was perfect! Complete with multiple showers running, lockers opening and closing, people walking around, the sound of them opening gym bags etc!!! What program comes with a locker room shower ambience?!?!? Is there anything this program can’t do? Like I’m seriously expecting to wake up one morning and find my dirty laundry washed and folded in front of my computer.
