Wha..?!

So, If I haven’t seen you in person since last Thurs I’ve probably got some exciting news for you! Most of you know I’m pretty hardcore into audio engineering, and also that I recorded a fantastic band and my good friends “Turn Off the Stars” a little while ago. I had waited to mix their tunes till I got some new software to make their stuff super sweet (See last post). Anyway, I was planning picking it up when I got a call from Jake, their bass player, saying pretty much this “Hey dude, do you think you could have our track ready by next wednesday? A network wants to air it on one of their shows.” I was like “Ummm….YES!!” However, I knew it would be incredibly tough to pull off. This was Thurs last week. I picked up the plug ins on Fri, and finally got them installed and authorized after a pretty tedious procedure (curse you Waves!!) on Sunday night.

I’ve been working like a dog since then…needless to say. Its been a real challenge, drums are tough no matter what, and there are 20+ tracks of guitars trying to eat up the whole mix. But it’s been going very well. Last night I polished up all of the instrumentation, minus some minor track automation, and put together a preliminary vocal comp. This morning I brought in the vocal and mixed and balance, and the results were great. I have the rest of the morning and early afternoon to do some final tweaking and polishing!

Its going to air on I believe the Gospel Network, a christian music channel, on a show called Revolve on friday and saturday of this week. I’ll have more details after I meet with the guys tonight, and will keep you updated.

For my more tech buds, keep an eye on the www.feedbackaudio.ca blog for a more detailed post on the nuts and bolts of the project.

Going to sleep for a long time once this is done!
